ABOUT ME

My Education

I am a Doctor of Adult Education with my particular research interest being the ways and circumstances under which adults significantly alter their deeper level thinking and belief systems. Additionally, I have an Honours Bachelor of Science and in my work I combine an understanding of our human biology and evolution with educational psychology.

I see the fact that I’ve lived, studied and worked in multiple countries, including Poland, Germany, Italy, Korea and the United Arab Emirates as a great part of my education as well. Immersing in other cultures and languages has broadened my view of the world and deepened my knowledge of myself. I speak Polish, German and Italian and can understand a decent amount of French and Spanish.

A Bit of This and a Bit of That

I believe in the importance of relationships. They are the foundation of the human race. Whether a relationship is romantic, familial or corporate doesn’t alter the fact that for the relationship to be healthy it requires self-knowledge and honesty, a true desire to better oneself throughout life, and communication skills.

Interestingly, my greatest education in communication came from my teenage son, who has autism. Learning to communicate effectively with him, meant that my language needed a very high level of clarity, with vocabulary that could precisely articulate feelings, thoughts and needs at a deeper level, without the need (on his part) for guesswork. Both my husband and I have found that the skills we learned from our son, have also strengthened our marriage, which has celebrated 25 years (so far).

My Professional Background

I started out in education, teaching at the college level as well as holding courses in communication for graduate students and university professors. I moved on from this to a number of executive positions, among them as Executive Director for the NWT Medical Association, Editor-in-Chief for a cultural publication in the Middle East, and Managing Partner for a textile production company in Italy. I’ve taught courses on-and-off throughout, mainly in communication and writing.

Eventually I ended up in Saskatoon with my husband, who is a physician. In Saskatoon I have worked as Manager of Operations and Communications for the Open Door Society while completing my doctorate and designing/opening an indoor playground, The Park YXE. I eventually passed the business on to my business partner and have since been focusing on writing and coaching.

My Role in Your Life

As a coach, I provide objective, unbiased feedback to you and help you get to where you want to be. Whether you need help with dating post-divorce, improving professional relationships or navigating new social circles after major life changes, my aim is to separate you from expectations imposed on you by others, provide unbiased advice from an outsider point of view and in this way allow you to make choices and take actions that are truly right for you.

My Social Media

I don’t place focus on advertising and for that reason do not have a business-themed social media account. Additionally, the advice I give is person, situation, and goal specific and detailed. Social media does not allow for that.

I have linked my personal, public IG account where I mainly share books I read and travel photos. Coaches, just like counsellors, therapists and teachers, all have unique styles which compliment their personalities and it’s important that you find a coach whose personality and style clicks with you. So, feel free to browse through my personal IG, if you’d like a better feel for me as a person prior to booking a consultation.

As a little extra: I love reading and read everything from contemporary fiction and classics to YA fantasy and light sci-fi. If you’re looking for a good read, here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:

  • The White Tiger – Aravind Adiga
  • Shogun – James Clavell
